Sardinia |
Sardinia (Italian: Sardegna, Sardinian: Sardigna)is
the second-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea
(after Sicily),with an area of 23,821 km².
The island has a typical Mediterranean climate.
During the year there are approximately 300 days of
sunshine, with a major concentration of rainfall in
the winter and autumn, some heavy showers in the
spring and snowfalls in the highlands. The average
temperature is between 11 to 17 °C (52 to 63 °F).[3]
The Mistral from the northwest is the dominant wind
on and off throughout the year, though it is most
prevalent in winter and spring. It can blow quite
strongly, but it is usually dry and cool and makes
for a sailor's paradise.
Airports
Olbia - Costa Smeralda International Airport
Alghero International Airport
Roads
Sardinia is the only Italian region without
motorways, but the road network is well developed,
with a system of "superstrade" (dual carriage
freeways).
The secondary inland and mountain roads are
generally narrow with many hairpin turns, so the
speed limits are very low. |

Lombardy
|
Lombardy (Italian: Lombardia) is one of the 20
regions of Italy. The capital is Milan. Lombardy is
the most populous and richest region in the country
and one of the richest in the whole of Europe.
Major tourist destinations in the region include the
historic, cultural and artistic cities of Milan
(which is Italy's second top tourist destination),
Brescia, Mantua, Pavia, Como, Cremona, Bergamo,
Sondrio, Lecco, Lodi, Varese, Monza and Brianza and
the lakes of Garda, Como, Maggiore and Iseo.
Lombardy is bordered by Switzerland and by the
Italian regions of Emilia-Romagna (south), Trentino-Alto
Adige/Südtirol and Veneto (east), and Piedmont
(west). Three distinct natural zones can be fairly
easily distinguished in the Lombardy region:
